When you create an account, we may collect:

- Uploaded cover images used for visual search

How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide ComicBox services
- Synchronize your collection across devices
- Improve search and identification features

Image Uploads
Images submitted for visual search are processed to identify comic books. Images may be temporarily stored for processing purposes.
If ComicBox introduces optional training or improvement programs in the future, participation will require explicit user consent.
Cookies
ComicBox uses essential cookies required for authentication and security. These cookies are necessary for the operation of the service.
Error tracking
ComicBox runs a self-hosted error tracking service (Bugsink) on its own infrastructure to capture application crashes and unexpected errors. Captured data is limited to technical context (stack trace, browser, route) and never includes form contents or query strings. No third-party tracker is involved; data does not leave the ComicBox infrastructure.
Analytics
ComicBox runs a self-hosted, cookieless analytics service (Umami) on its own infrastructure to collect anonymous usage statistics: page views, referrers, coarse device, browser and country information, and individual anonymous usage events. Some of these events may include the search terms you enter and the public identifiers (from the Grand Comics Database) of comics you add to your collection or wishlist — recorded without any link to your account or identity. Other events record only anonymous numeric measurements, such as search-result-quality scores and the time it takes to scan and add a comic. No cookies are set and no directly identifying data (such as your name or email address) is collected; the IP address is used only transiently to derive an approximate country and is not stored. All requests go through the ComicBox domain (no third-party tracker); data does not leave the ComicBox infrastructure and is not shared with third parties. Your browser’s Do Not Track setting is respected. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in privacy-preserving audience measurement.
Data Sharing
ComicBox does not sell personal information.
Data may be shared with infrastructure providers required to operate the service, including hosting, storage and authentication providers.
Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account remains active. Upon account deletion, data will be removed within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your data
- Request data export
